April 30, 2008 – Advocates remind Floridians that unlicensed alcohol shipments are illegal. New governmental Web site warns of penalties for the unlicensed sale of alcoholic beverages. TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Legislature is considering legislation that would address the currently unlicensed shipping of wine to Florida homes from out-of-state companies. Until legislation passes, the Florida Coalition to Prevent Underage Drinking is reminding Floridians that sales and shipping from unlicensed out-of-state manufacturers remain illegal. Unlicensed sales of alcohol products carry stiff penalties, including possible jail time.

March 20, 2007 – Poll:  Floridians concerned that teenagers will use the Internet to obtain alcohol products. Majority of voters say they oppose Internet and mail-order wine sales. TALLAHASSEE — In a poll of Florida voters released today by the Florida Coalition to Prevent Underage Drinking, an overwhelming majority — 85 percent — said that teenagers are likely to use the Internet to have beer, wine and liquor mailed to them without having their identification checked.  More than two-thirds of those sampled — 68 percent — said that they opposed allowing beer, wine or liquor to be sold directly to consumers over the Internet or through the mail.

May 16, 2005– Supreme Court rules that states should be “evenhanded” with alcohol regulations. TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Coalition to Prevent Underage Drinking said today that a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on out-of-state shipments of wine should not be interpreted to weaken Florida’s tight restrictions on Internet alcohol sales. The court upheld states’ 21st Amendment rights to regulate the sale and distribution of alcohol, but said they should treat in-state and out-of-state alcohol producers “on evenhanded terms.”

February 1, 2005- Coalition to Prevent Underage Drinking demonstrates ease of shipments to minors, Attorney General Charlie Crist says easier access by youth is “recipe for disaster,” and advocates tight control over alcohol sales  TALLAHASSEE –- The Florida Coalition to Prevent Underage Drinking today demonstrated how easily minors in Florida are able to obtain liquor and other alcohol products from unlicensed, out-of-state Web sites that illicitly take orders and ship alcohol directly to homes.
